Cartier Celebrates Centenary Anniversary of Tank Watch with New Models Release

Cartier has launched six new models of Tank watch to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the timepiece. These new versions include a reiteration of the basic Tank Louis Cartier, the Tank Americaine and the Tank Cintrée.

The first Tank was made in 1917 by Louis Cartier, reportedly as a gift to General John Pershing of the American Expeditionary Force. However, the legendary watch was not commercialized until 1919, after the war ended.

The Tank became a favourite for many celebrities and public figures throughout the 20th century, from actors Clark Gable and Rudolph Valentino to artist Andy Warhol and Princess Diana.

Today, Cartier’s Tank watches are sold with starting prices from AU$3,550.
