Since 1959, the American luxury department store has released an annual curated list of extravagant gift ideas. Lists from the previous years have included outrageously luxurious items and experiences, such as a US$15,000 gingerbread house, a rose-gold private airplane and a US$60,000 spa treatment in Paris.
“Eight or nine years ago, we sold a beautiful mermaid tail for $10,000 — and this was way before you could buy simple ones for kids,” said Mimi Crume Sterling, the vice president of corporate communications and PR at Neiman Marcus.
This year’s curated list features eight extravagant gift ideas to boot. Travel enthusiasts can score a trip throughout the Indian Subcontinent by a private jet for US$630,000. Prefer cruising through the sea? Get a 74-foot Neiman Marcus Serenity Solar Yacht for a cool US$7.1 million.
Sports fans could also get in the action with the ultimate experience of becoming Sloane Stephens’s VIP guest. For $555,000, the gift will allow the recipient to get access to four Tennis majors in Paris, London, New York and Melbourne. You can also make your house feel like a Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory with the installation of a custom Sugarfina Candy Bar at your place for a mere price of US$325,000.
Other luxury experiences on offer are a custom Fantastic Beasts-inspired outfit by Oscars-nominated costume designer Colleen Atwood (US$300,000), a custom animal sculpture cast in bronze by Danish artist Bjørn Okholm Skaarup (US$200,000+), clubhouses (US$250,000) and a Las Vegas espionage adventure that lets you jump out of planes and race supercars (US$315,000).
Which one will you consider getting for your loved ones?
